1. Changing stereotypes in perceiving certain roles and tasks as dedicated only to men and only to woman (upbringing in families and educational institutions)
2. Social campaigns encouragings fathers to become involved parents, really present in their children’s lives
3. Obligation to indicate salary ranges in job advertisements
4. Delegating cleaning and/or other household duties for a fee, if possible (availability of such services, wages on the labour market that allows you to be able to pay someone else for work)
5 A sufficient number of places in nurseries and kindergartens with reasonable fees
I think that the most important is how children are brought up. Stereotypical gender point of view shouldn’t exist in 21. century. But it could be rooted out relatively quickly only in developed part of the world. In many countries there is society opinion and religion issue too strong to make people understand that gender inequality leads to nothing but problems.
Nowadays, parents are more aware of disadvantages that divide creates. They are not always focused on changing gender role, but try to persuade children that they can do everything: girls can be bold and decisive and boys can be empathetic and more community oriented. It could have influence how they will perceive and deal with home and work burdens.
I don’t have any idea how governments can help to bridge the gaps between gender now. What else besides create freely available schools, provide facilities in communication and open access health care (sorry but some governments should be eliminated in one moment and successors should be led and taught how real world looks like properly… because for some there is no hope…) Productivity and good relations between coworkers this are valuable company traits for me. This depend from good education, self-esteem, ability to cooperate. And this is independent from any gender domination.
